Beginning October 15th, 2023, all new applications for type approval of radio transmitting equipment (China SRRC) must be certified in accordance to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People’s Republic of China’s new MIIT No. 129 Regulation.
MIIT issued MIIT 2021 No. 129, “Notice on Strengthening and Standardizing the Radio Management of 2400 MHz, 5100 MHz, and 5800 MHz bands” on October 13, 2021. This regulation came into effect on January 1st, 2023, with a two-year transitional period.
Summary:
2400MHz, 5100MHz and 5800MHz frequency bands are divided into one or more radio services, such as fixed, mobile, radio-positioning, satellite fixed, satellite earth exploration, satellite radio-determination and space research. The 2400MHz and 5800MHz bands are also designated for non-radio devices that radiate radio waves, such as industrial, scientific, and medical (ISM) applications that generate radio-frequency energy. No radio station or device shall have exclusive or exclusive use of frequencies within the 2400MHz, 5100MHz and 5800MHz bands.
The radio frequency unit and antenna of the radio transmitting equipment operating in the 2400MHz, 5100MHz and 5800MHz bands must be designed and produced in accordance with integration or synchronous matching. It is not allowed to use other antennas or install additional radio frequency power amplifiers without authorization.
Impact of the Change:
All wireless equipment and/or module requires additional tests (based on the type of wireless transmission type/frequency)
Manufacturers with existing China SRRC Certificates must complete the update to the new regulation before December 31st, 2025.
