The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has introduced an important change through the BIS (Conformity Assessment) Amendment Regulations. The validity of BIS registration has now been extended from two (2) years to five (5) years.
Important: While the registration remains valid for five (5) years, manufacturers must continue to submit annual production data and pay the applicable annual grant/renewal fees to maintain an active registration.
Key Highlights
- BIS registration validity increased from two (2) years to five (5) years.
- Both new registrations and renewals will now have a Five-year validity.
- Annual submission of production data and payment of the prescribed fees remain mandatory.
- BIS will allow manufacturers to complete the annual compliance process in advance of the prescribed due date.
Manufacturers should note that failure to submit the required production data and annual fees may result in suspension, deferment, cancellation, or expiry of the registration.
