Singapore CRS (PSB) Homologation Service

Singapore CRS (PSB) Homologation Service

General Information:

CRS certification is controlled by SPRING Singapore, and is mandatory for many product types.  In general equipment that is related to household appliances, home computers, and audio/video equipment are required to comply with the scheme.  CRS certification requirements focus on safety aspects of the equipment.  A CB Scheme report can provide significant leverage in obtaining CB certification.

Challenges Obtaining and Maintaining CRS Certification

Obtaining CRS certification can require significant documentation, and delays can occur from not providing or understanding what types of documentation to submit.  The following are all preventable issues that can cause delays:

  • Filling out forms incorrectly
  • Certification agency requiring product documentation that is difficult to produce
  • Changes in the CRS scheme can affect existing products
  • Certificate expirations cause unexpected lapse in coverage

How Can We Help?

We utilize the following practices to achieve a fast and efficient certification experience:

  1. There are many forms to complete for CRS certification.  We have the experience to get the right information in the right places
  2. Some product documentation may be difficult to acquire.  We negotiate with the certification agencies to keep the documentation requirements down to the bare essentials
  3. We track changes in global certification schemes to keep our customers abreast of the latest requirements
  4. Track and alert customers of upcoming renewals of SRRC certificates, with G&M’s Certificate Alert and Tracking System (CATS)

Mark –Certification mark required.

In-Country Representation – Required

In-Country Testing – Not required

Expiration Details – CRS Letters of Authorization are valid for 3 years after which time they need to be renewed.  The renewal process is simple, and requires minimal paperwork.  If the CRS validity period is allowed to lapse, reinstatement requires re-submittal of the product as if it were new. For more information on tracking certifications please see our CATS page.

Continuing Surveillance – Factory inspections are not required.  Market surveillance is possible.

We have found that often times certification bottlenecks can occur within a manufacturer’s organization.  As a result, we offer a service to provide internal help managing regulatory certification tasks.  Because G&M is not a certification body, we are in a unique position to offer valuable regulatory expertise without any conflict of interest issues.  In such cases we place G&M certification experts into our customers’ organizations to manage the certification process for them.  Once on the inside, our managers can leverage G&Ms collective experience to guide certification processes in an efficient and cost-effective manner.  To learn more about this service see our Homologation Management Service Page.
Untimely expirations of certificates can cause delays in product deliveries.  Re-certification of products will generally be treated as new submittals instead of certificate renewals.  This can be time-consuming and costly.  G&M provides a web-based certification tracking system that alerts users when expirations are coming, provides on-line storage of important certification documentation, and is searchable by certification specific criteria.  For more information on this system see our CATS page.
