UL launches enhanced Certification Mark and badge system

Products today must meet a diverse spectrum of certification and compliance requirements, and there is a growing need to provide more transparency into products in the marketplace. In response to evolving customer needs, UL (Underwriters Laboratories), a world leader in advancing safety, today unveiled an enhanced version of its iconic UL Certification Mark as well as a Certification Badge to help promote compliance in a meaningful way to the marketplace.

The enhanced UL Certification Mark enables companies to bundle multiple certifications for multiple geographies into a single mark. It includes a unique identifier that provides more details on the scope of certification for a particular product; allows for growth and inclusion of new types of certifications; and, provides enhanced Mark intelligence and traceability for the future. As part of the mark system, the Certification Badge provides an optimized, concise way for companies to promote compliance in the marketplace through use on marketing, advertising and packaging materials.

All currently existing versions of UL’s Listing and Classification Marks remain valid and should continue to be accepted as an indication of Certification. UL expects the transition to the enhanced Mark to happen over time.
