The MET Marks are registered certification mark of METLABS. METLABS is an independent product-safety testing and certification organization. The MET Marks may only be used on or in connection with products certified by MET and under the terms of written agreement with MET.
An electrical, mechanical or electro-mechanical product bearing the North American MET Listed mark signifies that it was tested and meets the minimum requirements of prescribed product safety standards. Moreover, the mark indicates that the manufacturer's production site conforms to a range of compliance measures and is subject to periodic follow-up inspections to verify continued conformance. In the 1970s and 1980s, MET made headlines by challenging UL's dominance of product safety certification. In 1989, MET's efforts were rewarded by the Federal government by becoming the first Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) in the United States. What's the process:
